Book Dish: Dear John

Reviewer Sara has the following to say about the newest hardcover by Nicholas Sparks (NY Times Best Selling Author), Dear John.

Well that was an fairly easy, I'd say 4 hour read. It is typical Sparks. Romantic, easy, clean (i.e. no sex to speak of), and it has several messages:

1. Basic honor ( to country, family, self)
2. Loyalty (same as above)
3. Current social issues of war
4. Understanding Autism ( has this become the new poster disease of the 2000's?)

Sparks does a good job of making his characters believable and you do care about what happens to them in the end. It is a perfect rainy Sunday or sitting on a plane read. It will not haunt you forever, but it doesn't make you feel like a loser for spending a few hours taking it in.
